The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) said that Russia continues its brutal aggression on Ukraine, using the same barbaric tactics that it has been using against the Syrian people for the past seven years: a scorched-earth policy that does not differentiate between civilians and military targets.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the SOC condemned the bloody Russian attack on a shopping mall on Wednesday, which killed 16 civilians. It denounced the continued Russian crimes against civilians in Syria and Ukraine.
“The brutality of Russia and the Assad regime is best exemplified in the bombing of residential buildings, hospitals, schools and in seeking to kill any semblance of life. Russia is now repeating its crimes in Ukraine, showing total disregard for the lives of millions, including children and women.”
The SOC stressed that the international community must work diligently and seriously to deter Russia and the Assad regime and stop their aggression against civilians. “It is imperative that the international community also expel Russia and Assad regime’s representatives from all international forums and bodies in view of their track record in war crimes and crimes against humanity, and in order to save lives and avoid the repetition of these crimes in any other part of the world.”
