President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Nasr Al-Hariri, sent a letter to Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, to affirm Jordan’s important role in the political process in Syria and the need to push the Arab League to work to find a political solution in the country.
Al-Hariri thanked the Kingdom of Jordan for its continued support for the cause of the Syrian people. He also expressed his appreciation for Jordan’s role in Arab and international forums and its relentless efforts to reach a political solution in Syria that would meet the demands of the Syrian people; bring the tragedy in Syria to an end; and restore stability to the region.
Moreover, Al-Hariri expressed his appreciation for the important role of Arab countries through the initiative to protect civilians; condemn the Assad regime’s crimes, and severe diplomatic relations with the regime.
He called upon the Kingdom of Jordan to contribute to the efforts to reach a political solution in line with the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN resolutions, especially UN resolutions 2254 and 2118 in a way that prevents the rehabilitation of the Assad regime; protects Syria And its people; and meets the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people.
Al-Hariri reaffirmed the SOC’s keenness to strengthen relations with Jordan, stressing that the SOC stands ready to contribute to international and Arab efforts aimed at pushing the political process forward and to take decisions that serve the cause of the Syrian people as well as Arab and regional issues.
