The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) held a meeting with the Syrian Interim Government at the SOC’s office in the town of Azaz in rural Aleppo on Tuesday to discuss strengthening coordination of the work of the SOC and its executive institutions in the liberated areas.
The meeting brought together Head of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdurrahman Mustafa, SOC’s Secretary-General Abdelbaset Abdullatif, Secretary of the SOC’s political committee, Riyad al-Hasan, members of the political committee Yasser al-Farhan and Bahjat Atassi, members of the SOC’s General Assembly, Adnan Rahmoun, Najib al-Rahmoun, Coordinator of the SOC’s Office in rural Aleppo Ahmed al-Shihadi, and SIG’s ministers.
The meeting came as part of the efforts to coordinate the work of the SOC’s executive institutions in the liberated areas and improve basic services.
SIG members gave an overview on the living situation in the liberated areas and the conditions of the IDPs amidst the severe weather conditions. They also discussed ways to secure humanitarian aid and work with relief organizations operating in the area to meet the needs of the IDPs.
They also talked about the reality of security in the liberated areas and the recent terrorist bombings, making clear that SIG has recently taken new measures to improve security.
Minister of Health, Maram Al-Sheikh, gave an overview on the latest developments in the health situation amidst the coronavirus outbreak as well as the Ministry’s efforts to stem the virus and secure vaccination for the population. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
