Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Dima Moussa, has lauded the unwavering determination of the people of Suwayda, who continue to take to the streets and squares daily, advocating for change through a political transition based on the implementation of UN Resolution 2254.
Moussa highlighted that the anti-regime demonstrations in Suwayda contradict assertions by the regime and other parties regarding external plans, separatist agendas, and the presence of saboteurs amongst the protestors. She emphasized that the people of Suwayda embrace an inclusive national discourse during peaceful gatherings, demonstrating solidarity with fellow Syrians across the country.
Furthermore, Moussa noted that the peaceful anti-regime movement in Suwayda has earned a special place in the hearts and consciousness of Syrian men and women throughout the nation. She underscored that through their peaceful activism, the people of Suwayda have rekindled the just demands that initially fueled the massive demonstrations in 2011.
On Friday, Suwayda city witnessed a mass demonstration in Karama Square, where participants called for political change in the country and stressed that the only viable path is through the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2254. The demonstrations drew the participation of hundreds of individuals from various regions of Suwayda and its countryside, including dozens of workers in the health sector.
