The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) commended the anti-regime demonstrations that are taking place in Suwayda city and the rest of towns and villages in southern Syria. It saluted the resistance and steadfastness being shown by the grandchildren of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Coalition stressed that the demonstrations that are taking place in Suwayda “reveal the reality of a people who have been freed from the shackles of tyranny and rebelled against the rule of oppression.”
The SOC said that “the ruses of the Assad regime and its backers will no longer deceive our people in Suwayda and elsewhere, especially the regime’s deployment of militias seeking to instill terror amongst the people through kidnappings, looting, and the causing of strife among Syrians inside and outside Suwayda.”
“Suwayda is today chanting ‘O Dara’a! We are with you until death,’ thus thwarting the regime’s and backers’ schemes to cause strife between Suwayda and Dara’a provinces. By chanting ‘O Idlib! Suwayda is with you until death,’ Suwayda is expressing its true belonging to the great Syria and its revolution and not to ‘Syria’s Assad’ or the foreign invaders.”
The SOC went on to say that “since the start of the revolution, Suwayda’s voice has been present. Today as the free people of Suwayda are marching across the streets and chanting for freedom, their chants are reverberating in the protests in Damascus, Dara’a, Idlib and Aleppo, sending greetings to Suwayda and its people.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
