President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Nasr Al-Hariri, sent a letter of thanks to the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stef Blok, for his country’s important efforts in the issue of accountability for perpetrators of war crimes in Syria.
Al-Hariri praised the initiative taken by the Dutch government to hold perpetrators accountable at the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.
Al-Hariri stressed that the Assad regime continues to violate international resolutions, the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the UN Convention against Torture which it has ratified without adhering to any of its provisions.
Al-Hariri called on friendly states to follow suit as key to achieving a real political transition in accordance with the Geneva Communique of 2012, UN Security Council Resolutions 2118 and 2254, and UN General Assembly Resolution 67/262. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
