The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) said it is anticipating the upcoming Arab Summit due to be held in Algeria on 1-2 November. It hopes that this summit will achieve progress in Syrian by supporting a political transition in accordance with UN resolutions, in a way that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people who are still yearning to regain their freedom and rights with serious support from their Arab brothers.
In a press release issued on Monday, the SOC stressed the need for the Arab brothers to adopt a firm stance to end the tragedy in Syria; achieve a political transition in accordance with UN Resolution 2254; contribute to achieving accountability; and help restore the pivotal role of Syria in the Arab fold.
“The Assad regime has become a tool in the hands of Iran and an enabler for its malicious project that threatens sisterly states. Indeed, the Assad regime is serving Tehran’s expansionist ambitions and subversive acts which Iran is carrying out through its terrorist, sectarian militias that it deploys in many Arab countries with the aim of undermining their security and stability.
Therefore, anu suggestions for returning the Assad regime to the Arab League at any time means granting Iran a seat in this league,” the SOC added. (Source: SOC’s media department)
