The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) strongly denounced the heinous crime that took place in Jindires town in rural Aleppo on Monday night. Several members of our Kurdish brothers were killed by armed assailants. The SOC has instructed The Syrian Interim Government (SIG) and The Syrian National Army (SNA) to conduct a thorough investigation into this horrific crime and bring those responsible to justice.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the SOC stressed that this incident in Jindires is an isolated one. It added that “every year, our Kurdish compatriots celebrate Nowruz freely and peacefully in their liberated areas. They also share their joy with other segments of the Syrian society who join them in their festivities.”
“The Kurds are an integral part of Syria’s diverse fabric. The SOC stands by their rights and freedoms. We condemn any acts of violence or discrimination based on religious, ethnic or national differences. Our common goal since we rose up against Assad’s tyranny 12 years ago is to establish a democratic state where all Syrians can live with dignity and equality.”
The SOC offered its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this atrocious attack, vowing to hold accountable those who committed this heinous act.
