Abdulbasit Abdullatif, the Secretary of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Political Committee, has issued a stark warning about the escalating threat of drug manufacturing and trafficking in Syria. He emphasized that the Assad regime and Iran are unlikely to halt these activities due to the revenue they generate, which funds their military operations. Additionally, they are determined to destabilize Syrian society through the distribution of illegal Captagon and other narcotics.
In a press statement, Abdullatif criticized the international community’s inaction in the face of this escalating threat, urging real measures to be taken to force the Assad regime and Iranian militias to halt drug trafficking and its spread among Syrian society.
Abdullatif emphasized that the only sustainable solution to all the crises in the country is to reach a political resolution in line with UN resolutions, particularly the 2012 Geneva Communique and Resolutions 2118 and 2254.
A new investigation by Syria TV has revealed that Iranian militias have opened a new drug manufacturing facility in the city of Deir Ezzor, which was established in late July. The investigation found that the laboratory is located in a house in the Al-Ruwad Association district, connected by tunnels to other nearby buildings.
The investigation also uncovered that the facility is equipped with modern equipment imported from Beirut, enhancing production capacity and ensuring high-quality products. According to the investigation, the production operations are managed by an Iranian expert named Jawad Rajai, who specializes in chemistry. A women’s group called the Zahra Battalion, currently led by an Iranian woman known as Umm Abdul Qahar, is responsible for the bulk of local marketing operations. These activities are targeting various segments of society, including university and school students.
