The Office of Civil Society Organizations in the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) held a workshop focusing on the health sector in the liberated northern regions of Syria. The event, held in Gaziantep, Türkiye, aimed to foster collaboration and advancement among diverse institutions and stakeholders within this sector.
Distinguished attendees included SOC’s Vice President Ruba Habboush, Zuhair Muhammad, Coordinator of the Office of Civil Society Organizations and a member of the political committee, along with SOC members Firas Al-Masri, Ayman Al-Asimi, Ahmed Al-Hassan, and Ahmed Nawaf Al-Jarba. Also present were Maram Al-Sheikh, Minister of Health in the Syrian Interim Government, the Director of Idlib Health, the Director of the Assistance Coordination Unit Muhammad Hasno, and representatives from 15 civil society organizations operating within liberated Syrian areas.
The workshop engaged in comprehensive dialogues addressing the challenges and predicaments encumbering the health sector. Its objective was to promptly devise solutions capable of fulfilling the needs of Syrian citizens residing in the liberated regions.
Participants extensively discussed propositions related to solutions and mechanisms for enhancing the health sector in the liberated areas, with a focus on overcoming obstacles.
The workshop yielded a series of recommendations pertinent to the Ministry of Health’s undertakings and the challenges encountered by the various organizations.
The Office of Civil Society Organizations reiterated its steadfast commitment to its formulated action plan. It aims to robustly contribute to supporting SOC’s overarching strategy across sectors that serve Syrian society within liberated zones.
