Coordinator of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Committee of Civil Society Organizations, Zuhair Muhammad, submitted a report on the Committee’s work in the past two months to the General Assembly at its 54th meeting.
The report highlighted ways to develop cooperation with civil society organizations within the framework of the SOC’s plan to reach out to Syrian civil society institutions, enable them to perform their duties towards the Syrian people, and provide urgent services to them.
The report also talked about the meetings that the Committee held with the Associations Forum, Side by side Organization, and the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee. The report stressed the importance of these meetings that seek to serve the Syrian people in Turkey and the liberated areas.
The report made it clear that the relationship between the Committee and similar Syrian institutions must be based on cooperation and coordination to reach the best possible results through integration between civil society institutions and the Syrian Interim Government. It indicated that the SOC is seeking to facilitate the work of unregistered organizations.
Moreover, the report indicated that the SOC is seeking to consolidate the relationship between civil society organizations and the Syrian Interim Government, as it stressed the need to communicate with other Syrian civil society associations and institutions, as well as with Turkish organizations such as AFAD, the Turkish Red Crescent and IHH, and to establish a mechanism for communication between the SOC and these organizations.
