The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Syndicates and Unions Office held a ceremony to honor athletes with disabilities in the town of Al-Bab in rural Aleppo.
The ceremony brought together Secretary-General of the Syrian Olympic Committee, Ahmed Al-Ali, member of the Olympic Committee, Adnan Qaddoura, and Vice-president of the Sports Federation for People with Disabilities, Mustafa Salha.
Al-Ali said: “We will work on developing sports activities in cooperation with the Sports Federation for People with Disabilities with the aim of organizing athletes who were injured in attacks by the Assad regime in sports teams and training them and improving their performance.”
“We are working on forming professional sports teams of people with disabilities in order to allow them to participate in sports events that we organize in the liberated areas and even international tournaments, and to meet their needs.”
The move aims to organize Syrian athletes with disabilities in various sports and teams such as physical strength, swimming, athletics and basketball in order to represent the Syrian revolution in all forums and at all levels. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
