A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) headed by President Salem Al-Meslet, visited the Revolutionary Council for Liberation in rural Aleppo and met with commanders of the Syrian National Army. The two sides discussed the field and military situation as well as the international political developments affecting Syria, especially the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Al-Meslet saluted the Syrian people on the eleventh anniversary of the start of the Syrian Revolution as he commended the enormous sacrifices they are making in order to achieve freedom, dignity and justice.
Al-Meslet stressed that the SOC is keen to be among the SNA’s commanders on this important anniversary, praising the SNA’s efforts to protect the demands of the Syrian people.
Al-Meslet gave an overview on the international and Arab meetings to revitalize the political process and achieve a genuine political transition in Syria. He spoke about the recent visit to the Arab League and the meeting with its Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Al-Meslet stressed the important Arab role in Syria and the need to prevent attempts to rehabilitate the Assad regime or allow it to return to the Arab League.
Moreover, Al-Meslet talked about the developments in the political process, especially the “step for step” proposal of the UN envoy, Geir Pedersen. He warned that the proposal risks moving away from the content of UN Resolution 2254.
For his part, commander of the SNA’s Sultan Murad Division, Fahim Issa, welcomed the SOC’s delegation. He stressed that the forces of the Syrian Revolution and opposition complement each other, and that all must stand united to achieve the demands of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity.
Commander of the SNA’s Hamzah Division, Saif Abu Bakr, also stressed their commitment to the principles of the Syrian revolution and the demands of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity and democracy. He stressed that the Syrian people are making exceptional sacrifices and will achieve their goals despite the forces of evil conspiring against the Syrian people.
