The delegation of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), headed by President Salem al-Meslet, met with the Turkish ambassador to the United States, Hasan Murat Mercan, at the Turkish embassy in Washington, DC. The two sides discussed the details of the Syrian file related to the political, field and humanitarian affairs.
In addition to President al-Meslet, the delegation comprised Vice-Presidents Abdulahad Astepho, Abdel Hakim Bashar, Ruba Habboush, Secretary of the Political Committee Abdel Majid Barakat, and member of the SOC’s General Assembly Dima Moussa.
The delegation reaffirmed commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity and democracy.
The delegation also stressed the importance of revitalizing the political process and supporting negotiations to achieve a political solution based on the full implementation of UN Resolution 2254 and reaching a political transition that meets the demands of the Syrian people.
The delegation also stressed the important role of Türkiye and its support for the Syrian revolution in all its stages.
For his part, the Turkish ambassador reiterated his country’s support for the aspirations of the Syrian people and their rightful demands to achieve a political transition in accordance with UN Resolution 2254.
