President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, toured the town of Ras al-Ayn in al-Hasaka province where he visited the border crossing, the tribal council, the local council, and services institutions.
Al-Meslet was accompanied by Vice-president Ruba Habboush SOC’s members Ahmed Ramadan, Yasser Al-Farhan, Firas Al-Masri, Abdel Basset Abdel Latif, and Ibrahim Al-Malli.
Al-Meslet and his accompanying delegation were briefed on the major activities carried out at the border crossing and listened to the needs of institutions and associations. They also met with civil and military actors and representatives of various components in the region, including Arabs, Assyrians, Syriacs, Turkomen, Kurds and Chechens.
He stressed that the SOC attaches great importance to the eastern Euphrates region and is working to improve the situation after years of oppression at the hands of the Assad regime, ISIS and the PYD militia.
Al-Meslet pointed out that the Syrian Interim Government is seeking to improve services in the region according to a clear plan, noting that the location of the city of Ras al-Ayn is very important, as it is a commercial hub and may be an upcoming starting point for development in the region.
