A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), headed by Secretary-General Haitham Rahma, visited the headquarters of the Second Corps of the Syrian National Army. The visit came as part of an inspection tour to military and civil components of the revolution in the liberated areas.
The delegation comprised members of the SOC’s political committee Bader Jamous, Bahjat Atassi and Muhammad Qaddah, as well as member of the General Assembly Ahmed Al-Shehadi.
The two sides discussed the efforts to unify the armed opposition groups in order to boost the strength and increase the professionalism of the Syrian National Army. This step will also help reduce the number of security checkpoints deployed across the liberated areas, improve security situation, and confront the enemy with greater strength and organization.
The leadership of the 2nd Corps expressed its full commitment to the SOC’s decisions and its political orientations. They discussed the latest military developments on the ground and the efforts towards full unification of the armed opposition groups.
The two sides stressed that the unification of the armed opposition groups will also help organize civil life, strengthen confidence among these groups, and enhance security coordination. They also stressed that the unification of these groups will allow the Committee for the Restitution of Rights to carry out its duties and tasks with greater efficiency.
