A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) made an official visit to the Turkish General Directorate of Security in the Turkish capital, Ankara as part of the activities of the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee.
The delegation comprised SOC’s President Nasr Al-Hariri, Secretary of the SOC’s political committee and coordinator of the Studies Office, Riyad Al-Hassan, member of the political committee, Badr Jamous, and Coordinator of the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee, Ahmed Bakkoura.
The delegation met Head of the Turkish General Directorate of Security Mehmet Aktaş and discussed with him the conditions of Syrian refugees in Turkey and the need to improve the services provided to them.
Al-Hariri thanked the Directorate for its efforts to serve Syrian refugees in Turkey and ensure their security and safety, stressing the importance of expanding cooperation and coordination.
Mr. Aktaş emphasized the common history and culture between the Syrian and Turkish peoples as he stressed his country’s keenness on the security of Syrian refugees in Turkey and Syria. He said that his country is seeking to secure a decent and safe life for Syrians in both countries.
Mr. Aktaş expressed his hope that the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity would be fulfilled, which would allow the voluntary and dignified return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
The two sides discussed cooperation to train members of the police force of the Syrian Interim Government in the liberated areas, and qualify them so as to help maintain security and ensure stability in the liberated areas.
The two sides agreed to establish a communication mechanism in order to resolve the outstanding problems and strengthen cooperation. The Director of the External Relations Department in the Directorate was assigned to communicate with the SOC in this regard. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
