A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition, headed by Secretary-General Haitham Rahma, visited the headquarters of the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) in Azaz, rural Aleppo, to ascertain the progress of work and join SIG’s in its meeting with notables in the liberated areas.
The SOC’s delegation comprised members of the political committee Badr Jamous, Bahjat al-Atassi, Muhammad Qaddah, and members of the General Assembly Najib Rahmoun, and Ahmed al-Shehadi.
The meeting brought together SIG’s Head Abdurrahman Mustafa, Minister of Justice Abdullah Abdul Salam, Minister of Health Maram Al-Sheikh, Minister of Local Administration Saeed Suleiman, in addition to notables in the liberated areas.
Participants discussed the reality of services in the liberated areas and SIG’s work and projects, stressing the need to continue the efforts to improve basic services and civic administration.
Rahma stressed the necessity of further cooperation and serious work to advance work in the liberated areas. He stressed the role of dignitaries in strengthening the relationship and improving security in coordination with the SOC and SIG.
Rahma gave an overview on the latest developments in the political process and the work of the Constitutional Committee, as well as the challenges facing the Syrian revolution. He also stressed the importance of providing adequate support to the political process in order to reach a political solution that meets the Syrian people’s demands for freedom, dignity and democracy.
