The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Department of Foreign Relations on Thursday convened to discuss the military developments in Syria, especially the Russian airstrikes that hit the town of Al-Bab in rural Aleppo on Wednesday.
Members of the Department discussed the possible motives behind the Russian strikes which directly targeted Al-Bab although it is covered by Russian-Turkish understandings.
They also discussed the dangers threatening the liberated areas in view of the Russian provocations and the possibilities of military escalation in the coming period.
The Department put forward several recommendations to the political committee, especially with regards to regional and international communications and coordination with sisterly and friendly countries to prevent the collapse of the Russian-Turkish agreement which helped establish a ceasefire in the region.
