The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) General Assembly on Monday elected Salem Al-Meslet as President, Abdulahad Asteipho and Ruba Habbush as Vice-presidents, and Haitham Rahma as Secretary-General.
The General Assembly, which begun its 57th session on Monday, also elected a new political committee of 19 members. They are Ahmed Tomeh, Ahmed Sayed Youssef, Badr Jamous, Basma Muhammed, Riyad Al-Hassan, Zuhair Muhammed, Salwa Aktau, Salim Al-Khatib, Abdelbaset Abdullatif, Abdullah Kaddo, Abdelmajid Barakat, Farouk Tayfour, Bahjat Atassi, Muhammed Qaddah, Muhammed Sallo, Muhammed Nazir Al-Hakim, Yahya Maktabi, and Hadi Al-Bahra.
The session begun in Istanbul on Monday under the title “in tribute to the late Okab Yahya,” former SOC’s Vice-president who passed away last Monday. The agenda included discussion of the latest on the ground and political developments.
The General Assembly is set to conclude its session on Tuesday when it will review the reports of offices, departments and committees, as well as the Syrian Negotiations Commission and the Constitutional Committee. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
