Coordinator of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office for Syrian Communities Abroad, Muhammad Yahya Maktabi, presented a report on the Office’s work in the past two months to the General Assembly’s 56th session.
Maktabi pointed out that the Office has focused on communicating with the Syrian community in Denmark in order to follow up on the Danish government’s decision to repatriate Syrian refugees. He said that the SOC sent letters to the United Nations and its organizations, and also communicated with the SOC’s representatives in Europe to exert pressure on Denmark to reverse its decision.
He pointed out that a joint working group was formed by the SOC and the Syrian Community Council in Denmark to follow up on the problems facing Syrian refugees in light of the decisions of the Danish government to revoke the residence permits of Syrian refugees.
Maktabi talked about the meetings that the Office held with the Syrian communities in the host countries in which it focused on rejecting the farcical elections that the Assad regime intends to hold shortly.
