The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office of Civil Society Organizations held a three-day training course in the town of Azaz in rural Aleppo on the Humanitarian Charter and minimum standards in the field of humanitarian response, known as the Sphere standards.
In attendance were Coordinator of the SOC’s office in rural Aleppo Ahmed Al-Shehadi, workers at humanitarian organizations and volunteer teams.
The topics of the course included an explanation of the Sphere Movement, the principles of protection, the minimum standards in the field of healthcare, shelter and food security, water and environmental sanitation and hygiene.
At the end of the course, Al-Shahadi honored the trainers and participants in the course. He stressed the importance of holding more training and rehabilitation courses to sharpen the skills and raise awareness among the workers and activists in northern Syria. He also stressed the importance of working with Syrian civil society organizations for the benefit of the population in the liberated areas.
The course came in response to the recommendations put forward by member of the Office of Civil Society Organizations, Kifah Murad, who met a group of volunteer teams at the SOC’s office in rural Aleppo in October.
