Vice-president of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Ruba Habboush, presented a report on her work to the General Assembly’s 59th regular session, highlighting the work of the Syrian Women’s Commission and other activities.
Habboush gave an overview on the Commission’s profile, discussions of the work committees and nominations therein, as well as the training courses on mobilization and advocacy for female survivors from Assad’s prisons.
Habboush also talked about signing a partnership agreement with the French government to support the Syrian Women’s Commission. The agreement will be implemented by the Stabilization Support Unit.
She stressed that this agreement came as a continuation of the Commission’s activities in the liberated areas with the aim of empowering Syrian women politically. The Commission will be holding a series of workshops and training courses to mobilize women’s energies and ensure women’s participation in decision-making so they play an active role in the future Syria.
