The Political Committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) convened for its periodic meeting on Monday, addressing crucial developments in both the field and political landscape. Central to the discussions was the noteworthy success achieved through joint efforts of the SOC, the Syrian Interim Government, civil society organizations, and activists in facilitating the entry of cancer patients from northern Syria into Turkish hospitals for treatment.
During the meeting, SOC’s President, Salem Al-Meslet, provided a comprehensive briefing on the fruitful communications with the Turkish government, which led to allowing cancer patients to access medical care in Türkiye. Al-Meslet expressed gratitude to the Turkish government for their swift response and praised the vital roles played by the Syrian interim government, civil society organizations, activists, and media professionals. Their collaborative efforts effectively shed light on the plight of cancer patients, playing a crucial role in resolving this critical humanitarian issue.

He also highlighted ongoing contacts with the Turkish government to address the challenges faced by Syrian refugees. Additionally, Idris brought attention to the plight of Syrian refugees in Iraq, as the Iraqi government considers handing over dozens of Syrian refugees to the Assad regime. Urgent action is deemed necessary to prevent this handover, as it poses a severe threat to their lives.
