The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee on Thursday convened its regular meeting to discuss the latest developments on the ground, especially the recent terrorist bombings in the liberated areas, in addition to organizational and administrative issues.
SOC’s President, Nasr Al-Hariri, started the meeting by reading out the National Discourse Document which the SOC’s General Assembly approved in its latest meeting.
Al-Hariri stressed the need to establish a committee or body specialized in addressing human rights issues and violations in Syria, including those taking place in the liberated areas. He said that this body will be tasked with tracking and verifying violations and conveying them to the relevant authorities to take appropriate action.
Participants reviewed a report by the SOC’s Refugees Committee detailing violations affecting Syrian refugees in Greece, especially the recent racist attacks against asylum seekers in a Greek island causing a fire that destroyed many tents and left hundreds without shelter.
