The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee held a periodic meeting on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss the latest field and political developments. In attendance was SOC’s President Salem Al-Meslet.
On the first day of the meeting, the committee reviewed the work reports of the Office of Civil Society Organizations and the al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee, with the coordinator of the committee talking about preparations for holding a workshop under the title “depopulating the al-Jazira and Euphrates region.’
The Department of Foreign Relations gave an overview on its activities and meetings in the past week, while the committee reviewed the work report of the Interpol Follow-up Committee.
On the second day, the political committee discussed the major field, political and international developments and events affecting Syria.
President al-Meslet gave an overview on his activities in the past week, including the meeting with the Saudi consul in Istanbul in order to prepare for the upcoming Hajj season, in addition to his meeting with Prince Hassan bin Talal.
The committee also listened to a briefing by Secretary-General Haytham Rahmeh on the progress of work in the General Secretariat, and the work reports and activities of the SOC’s departments.
The Strategic Consulting Office gave an overview on the statements of the UN rapporteur on sanctions, while the Military Liaison Committee presented its report on the military conditions in the liberated areas and the combat readiness of the Syrian National Army.
