President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, and an accompanying delegation visited the headquarters of the military commanders operating under the umbrella of the National Liberation Front (NLF) in the town of Jindires in northern rural Aleppo.
Al-Meslet was accompanied by Secretary of the SOC’s political committee Abdul Majeed Barakat, members of the political committee and General Assembly Munther Serras, Badr Jamous, Muhammad Yahya Maktabi, Bahjat Al-Atassi, Ahmed Al-Shehadi, Najib Rahmoun, Atef Zureik and Asaad Allito.
Al-Meslet discussed the latest political developments in the region and the mass anti-regime demonstrations in Al-Suwayda province, stressing the principles and goals of the Syrian Revolution, most importantly the overthrow of the Assad regime.
Al-Meslet pointed out that the SOC has a political mission to carry out: to achieve the goals of the revolution and the demands of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity. He also said that the SOC derives its strength from this heroic people. He pointed out that reform is a vital and continuous process, adding that what is more important is reforming the stalled political process and opening all tracks of UN Resolution 2254, especially the formation of a transitional governing body with full powers.
Furthermore, al-Meslet stressed his keenness on co-opting all revolutionary institutions and expanding the scope of work to ensure greater participation of the revolutionary institutions, stressing that the SOC is the institution of the revolution and is the home of all Syrians.
