President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, met with the commander of the Syrian Liberation Front (SLF), al-Mu’tasim Abbas and his deputy Saif Abu Bakr.
Al-Meslet was accompanied by SOC’s members Ahmed Ramadan, Yasser Al-Farhan, Firas Al-Masri, Ahmed Al-Shehadi, Atef Zureik and Bahjat Atassi.
Al-Meslet talked about the visits that the SOC has recently made to friendly states, especially the United States. He also talked about the developments in the political process and the need to activate all the baskets laid out in UN resolutions, most importantly the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN resolutions 2118 and 2254.
He pointed out that the SOC will send letters to major actors regarding the Interpol’s decision to readmit the Assad regime, stressing the refusal to rehabilitate the Assad regime and reward it for the crimes it is committing against the Syrian people.
Moreover Al-Meslet stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the military and political actions in order to respond to the upcoming challenges facing the Syrian revolution. He praised the training courses that the SLF’s fighters undergo in the field of human rights and commitment to the principles of international law and international humanitarian law.
For his part, Abbas stressed that the SLF and the Syrian National Army (SNA) are working under the umbrella of the Syrian Interim Government and SOC. He stressed the need to work within standardized regulations so as to benefit from all the efforts being made to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity and democracy.
Abbas also stressed that the SLF and SNA are ready to free all Syrian territory from the Assad regime and reject all attempts to normalize ties with the Assad regime.
