The President of the Syrian National Coalition, Salem Al-Meslet, recently met with the American diplomatic mission in the Qatari capital, Doha, at the Syrian embassy in Qatar. During the meeting, they discussed the importance of exerting pressure on allies of the Assad regime to revitalize the stalled political process and implement UN resolutions on Syria, specifically the Geneva Communique of 2012 and Resolutions 2118 and 2254.
Al-Meslet expressed his gratitude towards Washington for its firm stance against any attempt to normalize relations with the Assad regime or any step to allow it to be rehabilitated. He emphasized the need to implement accountability measures, which are essential in achieving the political transition in the country.
Additionally, Al-Meslet emphasized the need to hold the regime’s symbols accountable for committing heinous crimes against the Syrian people, praising the recent step taken regarding the measures taken to confront the regime’s Captagon trade. He stressed the need to isolate the regime and not legitimize or normalize relations with it.
Al-Meslet also called for support of the Iranian people in their ongoing revolution against the mullahs’ regime and to eliminate the terrorist presence of this regime in Syria, including sectarian and other militias deployed among the regime’s forces. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
