President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, Salem al-Meslet, received a delegation from the Syrian Media Union at the SOC’s office in Azaz and discussed with them the latest developments in Syria.
The meeting brought together SOC’s members Ahmed Ramadan, Bahjat Atassi, Ahmed Al-Shehadi, Firas Al-Masri and Asaad Allito.
Al-Meslet talked about the results of the meetings that the SOC has recently held with Western officials and diplomatic missions. He stressed that the SOC is sparing no effort to revitalize the political process and pressure the international community to open the rest of the baskets laid out in UN Security Council resolution 2254.
Al-Meslet emphasized the important role of Syrian youth and media professionals operating in the liberated areas in expressing the continuation of the Syrian revolution and the Syrian people’s aspirations for getting rid of the Assad regime and tyranny.
He pointed to the need to strengthen communication and coordination in order to amplify the voice of the revolution and meet the Syrian people’s demands for freedom, justice and democracy.
For its part, the delegation of the Syrian Media Union talked about their work and the problems they face while covering the events in the liberated areas. They presented a working paper that was drafted based on their past experiences with the aim of establishing trust with the Syrian people.
The delegation stressed the need for the role of the SOC and its executive institutions as the only legitimate representative of the Syrian people. They called for the addressing the differences and the development of a comprehensive plan for reform and a broader representation of the Syrian revolution.
