President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC), Salem Al-Meslet, and Secretary General Haitham Rahma met the Qatari Ambassador to Turkey Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani at the Qatari Embassy in Ankara.
Al-Meslet and Rahma congratulated the Qatari ambassador for assuming the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Turkey, praising Qatar’s vital role in conflict resolution and international mediation.
They thanked the Qatari ambassador for the position of the sisterly State of Qatar on the recent escalation and brutal attack by the Assad regime on Dara’a.
Moreover, they reiterated the Syrian people’s appreciation of the Qatari support for their struggle to regain freedom, dignity and democracy, and to end their suffering that has been ongoing for ten years. They also reaffirmed the SOC’s commitment to the implementation of UN resolutions, most notably the Geneva Communique of 2012 and Security Council resolutions 2118 and 2254.
For his part, the Qatari ambassador reiterated his country’s continued support for the demands of the Syrian people and their just cause, and for an end to the suffering of the Syrian people in accordance with UN resolutions.
