President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) Nasr Al-Hariri, sent a letter to France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian to express his appreciations for the tremendous, continuous efforts of the French Republic in supporting the noble cause of the Syrian people in their quest for freedom, dignity and democracy.
Al-Hariri welcomed the French Ministry’s issuance of a statement, as well as the Joint Statement by the Secretary of State of the United States of America, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom and the Foreign Ministers of France, Germany, and Italy; on March 15, 2021 marking ten years after the first peaceful demonstration against the Assad regime.
“We sincerely count on your commitment to continue supporting the Syrian people in their quest; and hope that our cooperation continues to be furthered and promoted with the objective of reaching a political solution in Syria,” the letter said.
Al-Hariri stressed that “a sustainable political solution in Syria comes only through the formation of a Transitional Governing Body with full executive powers in line with the UN Security Council resolutions, especially the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN resolution 2254.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
