President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem Al-Meslet, toured the Free University of Aleppo in rural Aleppo.
Al-Meslet was accompanied by University President Abdulaziz Al-Dughaim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and SOC’s member Jawad Abu Hatab, SOC’s members Ahmed Ramadan, Yasser Al-Farhan, Ahmed Tomeh, Firas Al-Masri, Ahmed Al-Shehadi and Atef Zureik.
Al-Meslet met with the university’s presidency as well as the administrative and teaching staff to discuss with them the educational process. He checked up on their needs and the major difficulties and challenges they face to develop education.
Al-Maslat stressed the importance of the role of the Free University of Aleppo in qualifying students with various specializations. He also stressed the role of education in building the future of Syria and confronting the Assad regime’s attempts to deprive the Syrian people of education by targeting schools and universities as well as arresting and murdering teachers.
“Success in education is a success for the revolution and a milestone in achieving the Syrian people’s demands for freedom, dignity and democracy,” he added.
Al-Meslet pointed out that the SOC is seeking through its executive institutions to improve education, basic services and healthcare in the liberated areas, stressing its readiness to work and cooperate in any service that aims to improve education.
