Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdelbaset Abdullatif, met with revolutionary and political activists from the eastern region and discussed with them the living conditions and the situation on the ground in the areas east of the Euphrates River.
Abdullatif met with members of the political committee of Hasakah province in the Turkish province of Sanliurfa who called for expanding the Arab representation in the SOC of the people of Hasakah province. They called for incorporating more people from the province to ensure fair representation and that the voice of the largest segment of the province reaches all the political and revolutionary forces in the SOC and the revolution.
Abdullatif stressed that the SOC is an umbrella for all the people of Syria from all spectra and provinces, adding that the concerns of every province are usually discussed in the SOC’s meetings.
Abdullatif also met with people and activists from the eastern region in Gaziantep and discussed with them the situation on the ground in the eastern region, especially attempts by the Iranian sectarian militias to impose their ideology on people of the region. They also discussed the suffering the people in Deir Ezzor are going through as a result of continued attacks by the Assad regime and the PYD militia’s arbitrary arrests and raids on civilian homes.
Abdullatif also visited the Syrian Tribal Council in Sanliurfa as he provided an overview on the latest developments and the ongoing preparations for the upcoming round of work by the Constitutional Committee later this month. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
