For the sixth consecutive day, a stream of people from Suwayda province’s villages and towns converged at Al-Sir (Karama) Square in Suwayda city’s heart, continuing the demonstrations that voice the demand for Bashar al-Assad’s departure.
During Friday’s protests, demonstrators held aloft banners bearing various slogans. Some banners read: “We demand the release of all detainees, our youth won’t be ruled by the math idiot, the slogans are diverse yet the aim is singular: the people desires the regime’s downfall, advocating for righteousness is a moral obligation, and freedom is intrinsic to human dignity. Our appeals align for the regime’s overthrow, not mere change in puppet governance.”
Hailing from Maleh, Arman, Majadil, Al-Jeneina, Shahba, Al-Mazraa, and other villages in Suwayda, protestors thronged Al-Sir Square to partake in this significant demonstration, amplifying their calls for Assad’s exit.
On Thursday, anti-regime demonstrations also took place in Idlib, Deir Ezzor, and Aleppo city. These actions served as expressions of solidarity with and support for demonstrators in Daraa and Suwayda provinces.
