Nora al-Ameer, vice president of the Syrian Coalition, calls on the Lebanese authorities to release Ahmad al-Qasir, the spokesman of the General Commission of the Syrian Revolution in Homs who was arrested on Thursday near Arsal, along with a number of Syrian activists on charges of belonging to a “terrorist” organization. Al Qasir is a member of the negotiating team for the release of Lebanese soldiers held by ISIS. “We call on the Lebanese authorities to release Al Qasir and the other Syrian activists and to ensure thier safety so that they continue their mediation efforts for the release of the abducted Lebanese soldiers,” Al Ameer said. She also pointed to Al Qasir’s previous efforts in restoring stability and security to Arsal, and to his various peaceful activities in giving aid to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
