Syrian Coalition Calls for Tougher American Response to Assad’s Massacres

Ahmad Jarba, president of the Syrian Coalition, calls on U.S. Secretary of State to adopt “an appropriate response to the Assad regime’s crimes against humanity. “Assad’s claims that “armed groups are targeting Christian citizens and holy places, particularly in the town of Kassab, are false and unsubstantiated,” Jarba said. He also told the President of the Republic of Armenia and His Holiness Patriarch of Cilicia, Aram I Kachichian, that the Syrian Coalition is trying hard to protect the Syrian social fabric, and that the Armenians are an important and essential part of our national fabric. “We hope that you don’t get misled by the regime’s disinformation campaign. I had visited the area of Kassab and got a detailed evaluation of the situation there. I also gave clear directions to the FSA fighters that they must persevere to protect all civilians in the areas they liberate regardless of their sect or religion. The churches, monasteries, freedom of religion and belief and even political differences must always be respected.
