Salem al-Meslet, spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, condemns the killing of Ahmed Dorra, a Syrian refugee in Lebanon, who died under torture while being interrogated by the Lebanese army. “These human rights violations against Syrian refugees in Lebanon do not serve the social and political security of the two countries, but will only serve the agenda of Hezbollah and the Assad regime who have been seeking to tear the social fabric of the Syrian and Lebanese societies and sow division and disunity on which their rule has been based,” Meslet said. He calls on the Lebanese government to “assume its responsibility and stand up against these violations that will undermine the relationship between the people of the two brotherly countries in the long run. We also call on the Lebanese army to release the hundreds of Syrian refugees in its custody and to abide by international laws when conducting any investigations necessary to ensure the security of the Lebanese state.
