The Syrian Coalition condemned in a statement issued today Assad’s “policy of brutality against the Syrian people, dropping barrel-bombs stuffed with crude shrapnel against civilian inhabitants of Aleppo.” The statement urged the international community to take “concrete and practical measures to stop these crimes and support the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people.” The statement also pointed out that “the regime’s assault on Aleppo entered its second week. 90 civilians were killed as a result of the regime’s bombing of the city using barrels and containers stuffed with explosives, according to information reported by activists.” The Syrian Coalition warned of the repercussions of the continuing military campaign against Aleppo, stressing that “the continuation of the regime’s atrocious acts against the Syrian people would necessarily lead to the failure of all initiatives and political solutions.” The statement also said that “the positions of the international community leave the Syrian people with a single choice, to continue fighting the Assad regime using all legitimate methods.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
