The Syrian Coalition strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Jordanian city of Karak where Gunmen attacked police and security forces at a crusader-era castle in the southern city on Sunday, resulting in a shoot-out that killed at least 10 people and injured at least 29 others.
The Coalition on behalf of all the Syrian people expressed solidarity with the Jordanian people and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the fight against terrorism.
The Coalition reiterated outright rejection of all forms of terrorism aimed at spreading chaos and undermining stability in the region. “The Coalition reaffirms confidence in the ability of our Jordanian brothers to effectively stand up to terrorists and their sponsors.”
The Coalition extended sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wishes the wounded a speedy recovery.
Seven members of security forces, two Jordanian civilians and a Canadian tourist were killed in the attack. The Jordanian ministry of interior said that the gunmen are holed up inside the historical Karak Castle, adding that clashes are still ongoing with security forces.
