President of the Syrian Coalition Anas Alabdah met with the new leadership of the Syrian Turkmen Council at the Coalition’s headquarters in Istanbul on Saturday to discuss matters of common concern.
The meeting also discussed the latest political developments and the situation on the ground in Syria, especially the recent gains made by the FSA and rebel fighters in the Turkmen Mount and Alakrad Mount areas in rural Latakia.
Alabdah stressed the need for further cooperation between the Coalition and the Turkmen Council in order to lay out a common political vision and to establish joint work mechanisms for the coming period.
For his part, Chairman of the Syrian Turkmen Council Ayman Bozogla reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to the fundamental principles and goals of the revolution as well as to the unity the Syrian people and Syria’s territorial integrity. Bozogla pointed out the Council is keen on carrying on with its active role in the Syrian revolution at all levels.
The two sides also discussed the need to expand the Council in order to widen its representation in the Syrian Coalition’s General Assembly. They agreed that this step would allow the Council to play a bigger role in the revolution.
The meeting with the Syrian Turkmen Council is part of the Coalition’s current efforts to reach out to all revolutionary and political blocs in Syria with the aim of strengthening ties and furthering cooperation. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
