The Syrian Coalition opened an office in Eastern Gouta to communicate with civil society organizations and rebel battalions in the area, in addition to managing the needed development projects. Saied Flitani, director of the office, said that this the first of several offices that will be opened by the Syrian Coalition in the area. The office will be tasked with coordinating the medical, educational and relief efforts exercised by civil society organizations and the Syrian Coalition. The office is working hard to offer services to all of Eastern Ghouta. We met with the teaching staff in Eastern Ghouta and got a detailed report on the difficult situation of education, resulting from the crippling siege imposed on the area.” Several demands were submitted to the Syrian Interim Government, including covering the costs of printing textbooks, paying salaries of teachers, and restoring damaged schools. Flitani pointed to the project for training and qualifying women in Eastern Ghouta, which aims to enhance a range of skills designed to raise the level of women socially, scientifically and culturally.
