President of the Syrian Coalition Anas Alabdah urged Ministers of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) to act urgently in order to protect the Aleppo and Daraya from the escalating onslaught by the Assad regime and its allies on the two cities.
In a letter addressed by Alandah to leaders of ISSG, president of the Syrian Coalition called for exerting every effort to avert the looming catastrophe in Aleppo and Daraya resulting from the brutal onslaught by the Assad regime and its allies.
“Unless the friends of the Syrian people and the international community act immediately to put an end to these outrageous escalations and mass atrocities, the message communicated to the Syrian people will be ‘might is right’”, Alabdah warned.
Alabdah pointed out that the Syrian Coalition and the armed opposition “have respected the advice of their good friends in respecting the CoH agreement and engaging positively in the political process. However, the regime and its allied states and militias have done exactly the contrary and heinously used the ongoing political process and CoH as a cover for their territorial expansion and military escalation.”
“As leaders of the ISSG, you are called upon to exert every effort to avert this looming catastrophe. The National Coalition and the Syrian people count on the support of their good friends in their just struggle for freedom, dignity and justice.”
Alabdah added: “Although the Assad regime claimed to observe a ‘regime of calm’ over the Eid holiday with an extension of a further 72 hours as of last Saturday, it has not truly respected that unilaterally-declared truce. Quite the contrary, the regime and its allied militias as well as the Russian air force have used this truce as a cover for its outrageous escalation in various parts of the country particularly in Aleppo to the north and Darayya in Damascus Suburbs.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
