The delegation of the Syrian Coalition regrets that no progress was made in the second round of Geneva II negotiations “though we took positive steps and put forward a draft of basic principles for a political settlement to initiate the political transition in Syria as a preliminary step towards re-building Syria and ending violence and terrorism practiced by the Assad regime and its allied factions, including ISIS.” Sources familiar with the Coalition’s negotiating team said that “there is intense international contacts to ensure that Geneva II achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people.” The delegation of the Syrian Coalition stresses that the continuation of negotiations should remain subject to the possibility of achieving results. We must work positively to save Syria and serve the interests of the Syrian people without allowing the Assad regime to waste time at the expense of the blood of the Syrian people.” The delegation of the Syrian Coalition submitted a document to the United Nations concerning the situation in the village of Zara west of Homs, which has been subject to crippling siege imposed by the regime on the Homs. The delegation also briefed the United Nations about Assad’s bombing of the Syria cities and about the death toll in Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
