Nora Al Ameer, vice president of the Syrian Coalition, calls on the Lebanese government to release the Syrian refugees it is detaining and who were not involved in the incidents that took place in the town of Arsal. “The Syrian refugees who are detained in Lebanon are victims of the terrorist practices of the Assad regime and Hezbollah which violated all international laws when it decided to aid the Assad regime in its war on the Syrian people. We have warned the Lebanese army of falling into the trap that was set up by Hezbollah’s reckless intervention in Syria. We have repeatedly made it clear that the kidnapping of the Lebanese troops, an act that we condemned and demanded their release, followed by the circulation of provocative videos, which one of them shows a Syrian child being tortured and intimidated by a Lebanese Shiite family, aims only to sow enmity between the Syrian and Lebanese peoples. The sole beneficiary of these sorrowful acts are the Assad regime and Hezbollah.” Al Ameer also calls on the Lebanese and Syrian peoples “to work hand in hand and put an end to the practices of Hezbollah and the terrorist groups that have swept the region. We share the sorrow of the Lebanese families and are waiting impatiently for the return of their abducted sons just as we share with them the same enemy and the same grievances.” Salem al-Meslet, spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, condemns the killing of Ahmed Dorra, a Syrian refugee in Lebanon, who died under torture while being interrogated by the Lebanese army. “These human rights violations against Syrian refugees in Lebanon do not serve the social and political security of the two countries, but will only serve the agenda of Hezbollah and the Assad regime who have been seeking to tear down the social fabric of the Syrian and Lebanese societies and sow division and disunity on which their rule has been based,” Meslet said. He calls on the Lebanese government to “assume its responsibility and stand up against these violations that will undermine the relationship between the people of the two brotherly countries in the long run. We also call on the Lebanese army to release the hundreds of Syrian refugees in its custody and to abide by international laws when conducting any investigations necessary to ensure the security of the Lebanese state.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
