The Syrian Community in France, in collaboration with the France Coordination Committee for Supporting the Syrian Revolution, held a solemn ceremony to mourn the victims of the devastating earthquakes that hit Syria and Türkiye on February 6. The event was part of a series of actions taken by community members to provide aid and relief to those affected by the earthquakes.
Noureddine Al-Labbad, the SOC’s representative in France, was present at the ceremony, held in the first district of Paris, along with members of the Syrian community, French mourners, and several members of Arab communities. The organizers of the ceremony displayed a green banner in Arabic and French that read ‘Mercy to the earthquake victims in Syria and Türkiye.’ Al-Jazeera TV channel broadcast live excerpts from the event.
During the ceremony, the Deputy Mayor of Paris Jeneviève Garrigos expressed her condolences and shared the deep sadness of her country for the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. The Director of the Syrian Civil Defense, Raed Al-Saleh, also addressed the participants via an internet link, highlighting the severity of the disaster that had befallen the liberated areas in northwestern Syria.
