President of the Syrian Negotiations Commission, Anas Abdah, held a virtual meeting with representative of European states to the United Nations with whom he discussed the latest on the ground and political developments in Syria.
Abdah gave a detailed overview on the developments in the political process, especially the work of the Constitutional Committee. He highlighted the difficulties the Committee is facing as a result of lack of seriousness on the part of the Assad regime and its refusal to engage in peaceful solution as well as its continued waste of time by refusing to discuss any agenda that would discuss the constitutional provisions.
“The European Union states should exert the necessary efforts and pressure the Assad regime and its allies to activate the rest of the tracks and baskets laid out in UN Security Council Resolution 2254, especially the basket of transitional governance and issue of detainees,” Abdah said.
Abdah also gave on overview on the latest on the ground developments and the dire humanitarian conditions that the civilian population is Syria and the liberated areas are going through. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
