The coordinator of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office in the liberated areas, Najib Rahmon, appealed to the United Nations and international organizations to intervene urgently and immediately to help rescue the victims under the rubble and the residents who became homeless as a result of the devastating earthquake that struck northern Syria and southern Türkiye at dawn on Monday.
Rahmon explained that the existing capabilities of rescue equipment and crews do not meet the great needs left by the earthquake.
Rahmon said that the effects of the earthquake are very large, pointing to the collapse of hundreds of buildings, adding that most of the residents of these buildings are still trapped under the rubble.
Rahmoun stressed that there is a state of alert for all the SOC’s executive institutions, as well as the civil defense and the crews of humanitarian and relief organizations, and work is underway around the clock to rescue the trapped and shelter the displaced people.
