The Unions and Federations Office submitted its work report to the General Assembly of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) during its 65th meeting. The report included the results of the Office’s work and activities during the previous period.
The Office’s coordinator, Abdul Majeed Barakat, highlighted the importance of the sports file as a tool for soft power in the Syrian revolution and for creating a positive image in liberated areas. He emphasized the need for marketing the Office and addressing communication obstacles for coordinators.
Barakat acknowledged the difficulties faced by certain bodies, particularly the Sports and Youth Commission, specifically with regards to financing and communication with international bodies and stated that the SOC will work to remove these obstacles.
He emphasized that the activities of the Sports Commission in the previous period had a positive impact on international sports coordinators, which helped to improve relations with Türkiye in the field of sports activities. He also highlighted the importance of focusing on youth and on media aspects, and presented the Office’s work plan for the coming year.
Barakat also mentioned the Office’s participation in the second general conference of the Union of Free Syrian Students on November 20, 2022, the meeting of the Sports and Youth Commission held on November 25, 2022, in Gaziantep, Türkiye, and the meeting of the Sports and Youth Commission held on January 9, 2023, in Hatay, Turkey.
