Activists in the town of Rastan north of Homs sent a distress call yesterday to raise awareness of the deteriorated humanitarian situation in the town. Activists said that there is a media blackout and marginalization by Homs Provincial Council. Maha Ayoub, head of the Office of Maternal and Child Welfare in Rastan, said that the office for three months has not been able to provide baby milk, while Saud Al Deek, head of the Provincial Council Rastan, said that they have not received bread or the basic needs for over three months. He also said that water has been cut off for more than 12 days, which puts greater burdens on the residents as they cannot afford clean water, which is being sold at 500 to 600 SYP for every 1000 liters.
